The Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment (YIEDIE) has begun training young entrepreneurs in the Accra and Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolises. The training attended by 41 beneficiaries in Accra and 38 young people in Sekondi – Takoradi aims at educating trainees on entrepreneurship, life skills, financial literacy as well as equipping them with various technical and employable skills in the construction industry.
YIEDIE, being implemented in the Accra and Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolises, targets young people aged 17 to 24 years, who are out of school, unemployed or underemployed and have an interest in construction. Young People who fall within this category are registered at no cost and given the requisite construction skills, life skills and financial literacy trainings.
YIEDIE training sessions are held over weekends and comprise individual and group based activities aimed at stimulating participation, building on participant Knowledge and ultimately equipping them with needed employable skills.
Beneficiaries will be given certificates at the end of the training to confirm their completion of the course. YIEDIE aims at training over 20,000 youth with employable skills along the construction value chain.
YIEDIE is part of the Youth Forward Initiative and being implemented by Global Communities, Youth Empowerment Synergy, OICG, African Aurora Business Network, Artisans Association of Ghana and HFC Boafo.
