We’re pleased to welcome and introduce nine new staff members who joined us in September 2015. Duke, Sarah, Louis, Teiko, Derrick, Freeman, Emmanuel, Josephine and Daniel epitomise young professionals working to support the growth of Ghanaian youth. Here are brief bios:
Sarah Bagura: Field Officer – YIEDIE, Accra
Sarah joins YES-Ghana as a field officer on the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment programme, (YIEDIE).
Sarah brings on board her experience in field work. Prior to joining YES-Ghana, Sarah worked with the Mission of Hope International (MIHOSO) in Sunyani in promoting preventive health to deprived communities. She has also served at the public health department of the District Health Administration – Upper Manya Krobo to improve healthy living.
Sarah has previously served as a Public Health Educator for Solace Education Foundation Africa, responsible for public health educational activities in various schools across the Greater Accra region. She has the passion to touch lives, especially lives of the poor and underprivileged.
Sarah has a BSC. in Public Health from the Catholic University College of Ghana-Fiapre.
Patience Teiko Ogbordjor: Field Officer – YIEDIE, Accra
Patience works on the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment (YIEDIE) as a field officer. She is a young self-motivated individual with a strong passion of leaving lasting impacts on the lives of people and always tasked to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in communities. Teiko is highly inspired and readily willing to offer selfless humanitarian services in local communities.
She brings to YES Ghana her experience in youth empowerment, volunteering and mentoring to work on the YIEDIE program. Teiko volunteered with Lattitude International Citizen Service (ICS) on a health and sanitation project and was also part of a research project “The Evolution of social capital” to investigate how pro – social Co – operative and individualistic workers are by using artificial field experiments and social capital change under a competitive payment scheme which was carried out by Global Food.
Teiko has a BA in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Ghana.
Benjamin Freeman Mensah: Field Officer – YIEDIE, Sekondi -Takoradi
Freeman is a Field Officer in Sekondi -Takoradi, one of the five cities across Ghana where the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment (YIEDIE) is being implemented.
Freeman brings to YES-Ghana over three years’ experience, working as a volunteer on a medical outreach and other social intervention programs. Working as a Youth Counsellor, he has dealt with young people from diverse economic and social backgrounds with diverse needs. Through his work, he has travelled extensively to various deprived communities in the Western Region of Ghana, working on medical, educational and other social support programs.
Freeman has a BA in Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon.
Duke Amponsah: Field officer- YIEDIE, Sekondi – Takoradi
Duke is a field officer on the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment programme, (YIEDIE) in Sekondi – Takoradi. He is responsible for community entry and mobilisation as well as stakeholders’ participation.
Duke brings to YES-Ghana, his experiences in education, health and safety, behaviour change communications as well as community mobilization. He has worked closely with community stakeholders in the Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolis for a year. Prior to joining YES Ghana, he was the behaviour change communication officer at Hope For Future Generations working on the Water Access Sanitation and Hygiene for Urban Poor (WASH-UP) project and the Ghana National Ebola and Cholera Sensitization Campaign.
Duke holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Rural Development from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Emmanuel Agyei Nomafo: Field Officer – YIEDIE, Accra
Emmanuel comes on board as a field officer on the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment programme, (YIEDIE).
Prior to joining YES Ghana, Emmanuel worked as an Associate Consultant. He developed skills in Leadership, M&E, and Operational Management during his participation in the Young Managers Program (YMP2014) implemented by the AfriLEAD institute and Engineers without Boarders (EWB) Canada, in collaboration with the Department for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) Canada, and the Lundin Foundation.
Emmanuel has over five years professional experience in project management working as a Programs Assistant for the Society for AIDS in Africa (SAA) organizers of the International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa (ICASA) and the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC), where he was part of the team that facilitated a special country wide study by Measure Evaluation. He has also worked as a commercial assistant for Bureau VERITAS International (BIVAC GH).
Emmanuel holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Science (Economics & Sociology) from the University of Cape Coast and has extensive training in technical assistance provisioning for SMEs.
Daniel Thompson: Field Officer, YIEDIE – Accra
Daniel is a field officer responsible for awareness creation, mobilization and screening of potential participants to be enrolled unto the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment programme, (YIEDIE).
Daniel has some years of experience in community advocacy, covering a broad range of issues ranging from sustainable development to child illiteracy. Prior to joining YES-Ghana, Daniel worked as a Facilitator for a local non-profit organisation, BASICS International. He is very passionate about developmental issues and always seeks to be part of any cause that makes the world a better place.
Daniel graduated with a BSc degree in Environmental Science from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
Derrick Djan: Field Officer, YIEDIE – Accra
Derrick joins YES-Ghana as a field officer on the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for employment programme, (YIEDIE).
He brings on board his experience in youth development and mobilisation. Prior to joining YES-Ghana, Derrick worked with Help Group Ghana and KidiChrist Foundation. Derrick has a passionate drive for youth entrepreneurial development especially development programmes designed for underprivileged youth.
He has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Ghana.
Louis Appiah: Field officer- YIEDIE, Sekondi – Takoradi
Louis is a field officer at YES – Ghana on the Youth Inclusive Entrepreneurial Development Initiative for Employment programme, (YIEDIE). He is responsible for making YIEDIE attractive to target youth.
Louis brings to Yes Ghana his expertise in community and environmental development. He has worked at the Ministry of Defence, Ghana and also gained experience in field work as an environmental officer at Justmac Ventures where he championed the course to prevent silicosis. Louis has also volunteered on a number of projects notably ‘Hen Mpoano’ for Friends of the Nation Ghana and is a past President of Mfantsipim Geographical Society.
Louis holds a BA in Geography and Rural Development from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Josephine Anyetei – Receptionist
Josephine is responsible for managing the front office of YES-Ghana. She is tasked to deliver excellent customer service to YES-Ghana’s stakeholders, provide administrative backstopping. Documentation and file management for all projects of the organization.
Josephine brings to YES- Ghana six years of experience of customer service and telephonic skills. Prior to joining YES-Ghana, she was the Secretary and Receptionist at Eddie Nikoi Accounting Consultancy.
Josephine has an ABE Diploma in Business Management and has qualifications as a NACVET Stenographer grade I & II.
