Sixty two undergraduate students from two public tertiary institutions namely, the University of Ghana (UG) and the University for Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) received free training in job search skills and techniques under the Job Search Academy programme on Thursday 26th April, 2018 in Accra.
The Job Search Academy, an initiative of YES-Ghana, aims at providing professional training in the mastering and application of various job search techniques/methods and job tools. It guides participants through every step of job seeking and giving interviews, to enable them quickly identify the right jobs first and then go and get them.
The practical one day training workshop (morning session for UG students and afternoon session for UPSA students) supported participants to conduct assessment of themselves and their career aspirations, discover occupational paths/requirements and prepare their curriculum vitae.
In the end they were able to identify their work values, skills and attitudes while relating their interests and aspirations to career options, search for information on careers and occupations and match their individual profile to specific jobs and wrote their own curriculum vitae and cover letter for prospective employers.
The training workshop was organized with the support of Enactus Ghana and their respective campus chapter leaders and was conducted on-site (the two universities).
