In November 2017, the British Council organized an ‘Active Citizens Social Enterprise Train The Trainer Workshop’ in Accra. According to the British Council, the workshop was designed to help Facilitators of Entrepreneurship Hubs, Programme Managers of NGOs, Social Enterprise Leaders, Educational institutions, other community change leaders, and potential facilitators to explore the vision of the Active Citizens programme in detail and to become familiar with the toolkit.
The objectives of the training were:
- to use the Active Citizens Facilitator’s Toolkit to design and deliver the Active Citizens training programme to local communities.
- to identify potential sources of funding for new action.
- to identify priorities and solutions for positive social action within their communities.
- to understand links between local issues, national developments, global issues and ongoing social action initiatives.
Mr. Eric Saforo from YES-Ghana attended the 4-day training workshop alongside other participants. Mr. Nelson Amo, the CEO of Innohub and Mr. Ekow Mensah, the founder, and CEO of The African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE) led the workshop. Eric hopes to integrate some of the elements of the toolkit into the curriculum of the Leadership project he manages at YES-Ghana and to incorporate some of the lessons from the training into future projects designed by YES-Ghana to support social entrepreneurs.
